Making your Following Efforts Pay-off...

There is a common misconception that they need to build their Twitter account followers to unimaginable numbers...

While this is partly true...it is also an effort with a VERY low return on your invested time!

Searching and following profiles is the most common way to build accounts...

Another way is to use hashtags like #FollowBack or #FF...

I can't argue that this builds followers...but are they the right ones?

Numbers do not directly translate into sales...

I would rather have an account that has just 500 followers that read my tweets and grow it by 50 people per day...than have a following of 1,000,000 PCs tweeting advertising messages to my account!

I have accounts directly focused on my books...The funny thing is that until the past two months...neither exceeded 500 followers...yet book sales from these accounts accounted for 25% to 30% of the follower base per month!  That means that these accounts generated 100 to 150 sales per month!  Not bad...especially considering that I spent no more than 10 minutes per day cleaning out inactive accounts and finding new followers!

How?

A very good friend of mine and I built an application for our own use...and now we want to share it with everyone!

It is http://86u2.com It easily with 2 clicks followsback all of those people that are waiting for you!

You can review all of the people who you follow and have not returned the favor...and drop them...

The real is a function called Twitter Mining!  This function goes beyond the ordinary Profile searches and allows you to search by Tweet-topic...

Profiles are good...but I see them as make-up...

Profiles are what people what to be seen as...but what they tweet is what is important to them!

Look for the key words related to your effort...and follow those people...

You'll see that you only have to follow 50 people to get 40 new followers!

How does that compare to your Profile following efforts?

I could go on for pages...but I do not want to waste any of your valuable time...

GO out to www.86u2.com and sign-up!

The Twitter Mining itself is worth its weight in GOLD!

Search Tweets: A More Effective Following Strategy

If you are building your Twitter account(s) for a specific purpose you probably have three objectives:

1 - To grow your account with as many PEOPLE as possible
2 - To have followers who want to (and can) read your tweets
3 - To elicit some type of response from your readers...a purchase or "click on a link", etc...

Seems simple...BUT this is not the case...

Twitter is filled with "Robos" which are PCs running software that simply tweet and repeat tweets...

These drive me CRAZY!

My PC is busy enough...it doesn't have to be talking with another PC who has no buying decision-making authority!  LOL!

That is why I CAPITALIZED the word PEOPLE in your first objective...you want PEOPLE not PCs!

You also want people who care about your topic of theme...

If you are selling organic vegetables...you want vegetarians...

If you are selling iPhone apps you want iPhone users...

If you are selling a "How-to" book...you want people who need help with...

Get the picture?

The COMMON "Following" strategy...

...is to search out specific "key words" that are in an individual's profile...

There are some downsides to this strategy that many miss...

1 - Profiles are static...people change...they may never update their profile...and as time passes so does the accuracy of the profile itself!

2 - Speaking of accuracy...Profiles are not very telling of reality...they are "make-up"  I see profiles as a description of how a person wants to be seen...not what they really are...

As a result...I do not build my followings using Profile searches...

We'll talk about some effective Profile "Following" strategies in future posts...

****************************************

A BETTER "Following" strategy...

You can tell a lot more about a person and what they are about...by what they tweet about!

I search out specific "key words and phrases" within tweets and follow those who use them!

These are active People...who are interested in my topic(s) enough to tweet about them!

This strategy builds accounts that are focused and active...AND are read!

How to Chase Tweets

There are Twitter Apps that chase topics for the user...

The best one that I have found so far is www.86u2.com (I am starting to repeat myself SORRY LOL!)

It has a function called "Twitter Mining" that is absolutely brilliant!

You can search and save your "Key Word/Phrase" searches on buttons...

It gives you the most current tweets related to your search and allows you to follow the "tweeter" by simply clicking on their profile pic...

Simple...Fast...and most of all it makes following a valuable and meaningful effort...

Give it a try!

Or try one of the other Twitter apps...

What matters is that you follow based on what people are actually talking about (Tweets) and not what they want you to think that are all about (Profiles)...

2001 Following Limit

My first Twitter account was growing like gang-busters!

I worked it by searching out potential follower profiles on a daily basis...adding 50 to 75 new ones daily...

Then...

I hit a wall...every time I tried to add followers...I was stopped...

Soon my growth ground to a halt...

So I looked for a way to see who was on my list that was not what I called a "Good Twitizen" and had not returned the favor by following me back...

Sounds familiar?

Twitter has limits on following and unfollowing...and I do not blame them...

But the 2001 Wall as we "code named" it really put a damper on my efforts...

*****************************************

Making "The Wall" a non-issue...

Over the course of a few months, I have developed a discipline that has made this limitation a minor inconvenience...

This is what I do...

I maintain a difference between Following to Followers of exactly 250...

Each day I delete the oldest 50 users who have not returned the "followback favor" and add 50 new users.

Across numerous account I have learned that if an individual does not followback in 4 days...the probability that they will approached 0%.

By using the 250 gap/50 out/50 in discipline, each individual has 5 days to followback...or lose me as their follower...

It works...I maximize the potential of my efforts to follow and do not waste precious follower slots...

My average growth rate exceeds 75/day.

The important thing is that I spend less than 5 minutes per account per day doing this!

How?

I use a Twitter Management Application...called www.86U2.com

86U2 costs $4.95/account/year and it is well worth every penny...

There are many apps out there and I have tried them...but I can see this application was built for Twitter users by Twitter users...

86U2 has a sister site www.86u.co which provides users Unfollow and FollowBack for FREE...but my advice is GO PRO and begin using the full fledged application...because it has many other tools that helps you maintain and grow your account beyond what simple follow/unfollow/followback can do...

Give www.86U.co a test drive...then go to www.86U2.com and get serious!

You won't be disappointed...and the 2001 Following Limit will become a non-issue!
